Over the course of her career in the oil and gas industry, Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru has worked with several top companies in Nigeria. A corporate finance analyst with Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Ltd., Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru studied for her MSc in metals and energy finance at Imperial College London.
A one-year program consisting of classroom-based teaching and practical experiences, the metals and energy program at Imperial gives students the tools necessary to succeed in petroleum-related corporate finance roles. The classroom-based portion of the program focuses on areas such as cash flow modeling, metals and energy project appraisal, quantitative finance, mineral deposits studies, and more. Students with sufficient backgrounds in mathematics also take a European language course to enhance their skills in the global marketplace.
In terms of real-world experience, students participate in a mineral project appraisal and finance module at the Centre for Professional Development. During this time, students apply their classroom lessons and learn from the experience of other delegates in the program. In the summer term, students spent at least 10 days in a region of mineral processing, energy development, or active mining, where they gain a firsthand look at the extraction industry.
