An experienced petroleum industry professional, Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru serves as a corporate finance analyst with Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited. Before entering the workforce, Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru completed studies at Imperial College London, where she earned a master’s degree in petroleum engineering.
Imperial College recently hosted renowned physicist Stephen Hawking, who gave a lecture about his work with black holes. In his talk, Professor Hawking countered notions that black holes are the ultimate destroyers of matter. He also spoke about how black hole theory has developed over the years and about Hawking radiation emissions associated with the phenomenon.
Five current faculty members at Imperial College are former pupils of Hawking. They joined him before the lecture in a special celebration. During the event, Hawking expressed pride in the work that the theoretical physics department at Imperial College has been able to accomplish, citing the school as one of the preeminent institutions in the world for such studies.
As a dual citizen of Nigeria and the United Kingdom, Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru has received an international education. Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru obtained her master’s of science in metal and energy finance from Imperial College, London.
The college’s master’s of science degree in metal and energy finance is a one-year program that begins each October. The program is jointly managed by the Department of Earth Science and Engineering and the Imperial College Business School. It is an amalgamation of various topics ranging from mineral deposits, petroleum, engineering, and project management to other business-related classes.
The master’s program is designed to help graduates build careers through understanding the technical and financial aspects of petroleum and mineral resource developments. It consists of classroom-based activities along with practical classes. Students take part in seminars, as well as a 10-day field visit to different mining and energy development sites.
Candidates with an honors degree in engineering, the physical sciences, and economics with a sound background in mathematics are eligible to apply for this program. Having relevant experience is an added advantage.
